on hl2's TS2

It's ridiculous.

edit: its changed to it's because flatpancake is rediculous

100 aim and can't hit a target with accuracy a mere few meters away :-(

can we change the recoil on srp while we're at it

i'm ungrateful

I wonder if a gun that shoots in a straight line and doesn't give a fuck about any recoil is any better :/ There just doesn't seem to be a good balance, either it's a super accurate gun or a total shit gun, which only works at point blank range, and that is if you are lucky.

Shooting a Ts2 gun is like trying to play pool on top of a paint shaker machine.

It's not recoil, it's spread, the coefficient of which is determined by your aim stat. It was designed that way so people would be more inclined to donate for stats.

TnB should just use one of the hundreds of premade SWep packs.

No offense intended to TnB coders most are infinitely superior.

Guns shoot in a straight line in real life, if you weren't aware (aside from dropping).

its not even like recoil

its like fire and HOLY SHIT YOUR GUN FLIES EVERYWHERE

There is a common misconception that recoil affects the accuracy of the gun itself. The gun will always shoot in a straight line, your aim will just mess up. When single shots move your screen up to see the sun in the skybox, you know it's overreacting. I can understand that at full auto, especially for AKs, the gun would practically fly out your hand if you had a low aim stat (I.E) had no idea what your doing. But it should be turned way down. I'd prefer the recoil to be underestimated than overestimated.

The issue is most people here assume that firearms are far more powerful and difficult to handle than they really are. Most weapons, especially more modern ones, are very manageable in regards to recoil, especially considering most are fired in short bursts or even single shots.

For example, I remember having a particularly amusing conversation with someone a while back when I wanted to start giving Delta (T:RP's medical division) shortened shotguns rather than full sized rifles. They thought that shotguns were some sort of handcannon that would launch unskilled users across the room hollywood style. It's something which bothers me quite a bit at times. You would think in an FPS based roleplaying community, with all the settings including a large amount of combat, that people would take the effort to do at least some light research into what they are roleplaying.

I'd like to point out this video.

A little kid manages the full auto recoil on an M4. If he can do it with a bit of training, you can learn it in a much quicker time frame with the strength of a regular person.

It doesn't matter if it's realistic or not, donations have to come in.

Donations have very little if anything to do with the recoil of a weapon. It isn't as if the donator is allowed to specify the weapon's stats.

They're allowed to specify their own stats though

Jesus this

maybe if changes were made to weapons to allow for select-fire modes, but almost all the weapons are rapid-fire and useless at long range.

also they're so inaccurate that s2m might actually end up killing people

that's not a fair comparison, he's obviously one of kony's child soldiers

We had people donate for maxstats during the TS1 days as well and back then, those who didn't donate still had a chance to kill donators if they just were good enough.

That being said though, I think that while I certainly agree that recoil is problematic in SRPs competitive setting I don't really mind it all that much on HL2RP. S2K-based combat there is something I believe should be restricted to events involving NPCs, anyways.

I am aware that guns are supposed to shoot in a straight line. What I meant is that 'some' weapon in ts1 shoot entire clips in a straight line with 0,0001% recoil. I agree with chris584 , recoil shout be tuned down and then we'll have a fine balance. (hopefully)
