HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG TO SEE THIS COME TO LIGHT!
There's nothing I fucking love more than the Cyberpunk genre and CD Project Red is delivering hardcore.
I'm so hype but the setting for this bit seems a bit too bright tbh.
can someone find me the music pls
when the same studio that made witcher is making cyberpunk i smirk
Cant wait. Apparently it won't be open world but instead have very large episodic levels ala Witcher 2
I'm sure it'll be full of the seedy underbelly at night time we all know just as much as the bright sunny daylight. They may well just want to show off that side of it, and make it seem more of their own take and not a straight rip of the other types of cyberpunk which can, admittedly, often look the same.
there's probably some intentional contrast being made with the bright lights and colors paralleling with the dark and gritty realities in the game.
the fun-looking colors n shit are to distract you from the absolutely fucked parts
a hidden ip in the trailer leads to this
apparently the password was NC20 CP77 but doesnt work anymore
There was a hidden message or something in it apparently
"It’s been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and… went dark. Normal Procedure for these kinds of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.
As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077’s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to rescue talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you’ve been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn’t like anyone to feel that we’re taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so that the sweat and tears need to be real, too :).
But, to the point. Today is the day. If you’re seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, mega-corporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don’t let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You’ll be able to create your own character and… well, you’ll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!
Before we finish, you probably have some questions, (unintelligible)?
When we told you we would only release the game when it’s ready, we meant it. We’re definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :, but it’s still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it’s the beauty of being an independent study and your own publisher.
2. How big?
Seriously big, but… to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we’ll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.
3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM?
Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM free on PC.
In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?
Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a miniute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.
CD PROJEKT RED Team"
Character customization mmmmMMMMMmmmmm
Man, can't wait to be cyberpunk John Wick.
We're calling Tekka CP2077RP now
idk i mean the cyberpunk genre isnt just grit there's also the unrealistically high standards of living for people at the top
i think it'll be super interesting to see the contrast between the two
Sure looks better than Fallout 4 - Vault 76 DLC. Online only - BOO!
Tekka is a pipe dream
This reads like a trump tweet
this is a meme now
i've never had any real interest in the cyberpunk concept before
when will DB be able to grab models from it me wonders..
i need new pants
neuromancer the game
Neuromancer's author actually hates the game, lol.
My cyberpunk ? > Your cyberpunk.
Which one is it
Benji is small brian
I'm hyped over a game made by quality people, not asshats. Have you seen witcher 3? It's literally amazing.
CD projekt red is one of the most quality focused studios in the industry as far as I know. They're not going to fuck us like Todd 'skyrim: roomba edition' Howard.
you mean todd howard?
also, the witcher is a setting established via books beforehand; you can't do much wrong if you're a quality-driven developer that bases games on books. i'm not so sure if 2077 is something they cooked up themselves or if it's also based on something else, but either way, there's a chance the game will be great in terms of gameplay but the story and setting could be absolutely abysmal.
i'm very optimistic and very very hyped about an actual cyberpunk game, but the trailer is really bright and looks "happy". it doesn't fit the moody, mysterious tone the initial teaser set forever ago. that one led us to believe the game is more focused around augfreaks going nuts because of whatever - which, while cliché, remains an alright main story piece. now, i'm not so sure what the story is about anymore.
i want to trust cdpr and i'll gladly eat a broom if they deliver something good, but do keep in mind that even The Good Ones can slip up and go down the gutter
Saving this for future reference
Yeah that's fair, I didn't know witcher was a book series so now I'm a bit cautious toward 2077, but I still have hope these guys can at least set q good foundation if anything.
Apparently its based on a tabletop RPG
Cyberpunk 2020 is a tabletop system like AlbinoGlowStick above me says, so CD Projekt is definitely working with an established setting. Not only that, they are working with the man who created Cyberpunk 2020 himself. CP2020 takes on cyberpunk a little differently. People expect this whole black trenchcoat sort of deal where it's all dark and grimy, but there's another side. The punk side of Cyberpunk. The pink mohawk side that stems more from its 80s roots where its vibrant and flamboyant. That's what CD Projekt came out and said they wanted to do rather than just do the cyber, so the trailer being bright and happy is them actually going through with it rather than trying to solely replicate Bladerunner like so so so so so many other games fucking do.
I've played CP2020 and it's very punk. You got classes like Rocker, and it's exactly what it sounds like. CD Projekt is on the right track, and though Gibson wrote Neuromancer, he has a long history of not only being wish washy but just being in general a contrarian. He's shat on Bladerunner before only to love it after, so maybe it'll happen again with this game? Time will tell.
Also, slightly irrelevant tid bit and info, Night City isn't named Night City because it's how campy 80s cyberpunk worked or because it's supposed to be night time. Night was a guy who created the city, and like the twitter posts say, it feels like California. That's because Night City is in California, so that's kinda to be expected rather than be looked at as a detractor as I've seen people do.
i am prepared to feast upon a broom
Sounds like you're hyped bro, stop feeding these evil corporations.
Honestly rewatching the trailer even the short scenes of the underworld (arguably the largest part of the cyberpunk genre) seem a bit too bright. I want bladrerunner esque underlying smoke and copious amounts of rain.
Still excited tho
e: just realized all this was said and explained above rate me box
oh no the sun still exists in the future shit
