@Davebrown How much do i have to have War machine donate to change your mind?
Yikes man, could've just said no.
you: "dave ill stop scripting for tekka"
dave: "fuck you win"
At least armor doesn't get damaged each time you die.
dont give them ideas
I'm going to donate to have helmets break after a headshot.
That's how SRP died.
Workbench weighs about 5 weight in someones inventory. Just make small kits with limited uses so that you can use them to dismantle weapons into parts. Or not i guess i am very tired at the current time and may not make sense.
Agreed with Polioman just hold the workbench in front of you to shield the bullets and plasma
It has ALWAYS been this way. It just can't be changed, not without MORE sloppy admin intervention. I'm sure the leadership is already busy enough with other shit.
People used to make characters that were simply inventory. Banks. Sometimes with 20-30 guns on other player slots.
The amount of BS people give about their scripts has always been like this. Trust me. A driving force behind S2K was to get scripts during HL2. They've changed that too. What you have now is the best it'll be until the new script comes along, and even then it probably won't change.
Edit: When the change came that saw cops stop dropping guns on death, there was an up tick in Canal bandits robbing other refugees/rebels, loool.
It's less the script dropping but all the annoying side effects of a double down punishment system for when you drop in s2k, there's a lot of headache to be saved and keep things moving if they just chose one way to smack down the people acting like fucks instead of double whammy-ing us.
if you're a drone and you delete guns when people die you're a stupid bitch and i have literally no sympathy if anything bad happens to you
@Mother can you hit me up with drone flags
i hve something i need to do
Exos should take damage.
Hit the nail on the head really.
its not fun if i cant overload my inventory
maybe a good solution to this could be having trp be rp and not hl2 deathmatch with robots and plasma guns
i really cba to post a long thing about it for the 100th time
you might not agree with the system, but i would hope that some people at least have the appreciation that i dont just make the decision randomly
like......there is logic behind it
there is a very basic delusion that most of these complaints are based on.....that you are entitled to the weapons you lose in combat and to have them returned
this is not true
if you lose the weapon, whilst i understand the whole NLR situation has always been a tricky thing to explain away.........its just something you work around.
"oh but my character is defined by the weapon they use and without it , it wouldnt make sense" is a poor excuse.
the weapon drop system creates a very clear recycling and redistribution (and sometimes total loss) of equipment.
it means that people cannot expect to horde gear, whilst also getting the benefit of using it without fear of losing it
take for example, the case of some of the donators who have exo-rigged weapons bound to their flag.
in these cases, the weapons dont drop when they die because theyre a rare type- and i wouldnt want people picking them up and using them without access to a frame that they would be attached to.
you might have noticed, that these players act totally carelessly sometimes in combat because they know there is no consequence for death.
losing equipment is the one single factor that helps curb behaviour, and actually makes people cautious in combat scenarios.
in a combat orientated server like TRP, this is a nessacary evil so to speak.
in servers like ZRP or HL2RP, which are slower paced, i can understand why the no-drop system might be favoured. in those cases, i grew to accept it. but not on TRP.
theres just simply a huge mass of weapons out there........if you lose something......chances are you can get it back anyway. theres really no reason to moan.
Boy I sure hate when Dave demonstrates he knows what he's doing.
I get where you're coming from but I don't think what is actually happening on the server matches what you describe. If it did, I don't think people would bitch as much.
Many of Skynet weapons have incredibly short TTKs, or are actually instant kills for anyone with standard armor, or are explosions that can kill entire groups through walls or behind cover. Combine that with the fucky way the game works where it will look from your camera as if you are completely behind cover yet your model and entire hitbox is exposed to other players, it is rare for a death to feel deserved. Except for newbies who doesn't know any better running up to a drone with fists, very few players especially regulars are going to be killed because they're being careless in combat. It's entirely up to the roll of a dice whether or not you're going to suddenly die at any particular moment.
If those could be fixed the system would work a lot better and there would be a lot less moaning. Also, the very fact that it is so easy to lose gear is why some people horde it in the first place. The joke of having a shitty 's2k' gun that you don't care about losing is something many people actually do.
Nice try, cup
It was a good ride. Every day was a blessing.
no it wasnt
Youre misidentifying the problem here.
The weapons are just tools.
The issue is with the player using them, not the weapon itself.
Anyone who kills people with a 1-shot sniper plasma rifle really cant say "oh it was an accident".
Its not hard to shoot to miss.
The majority of skynet players should still be using their default weapons and / or mid tier plasma
Sure I can understand explosions sometimes kill people when they werent intended to..........but again, thats the fault of the person using them carelessly aiming too close etc
And either way
Dying is all part of the game. Sometimes you kick Skynet ass, raid the outpost, evac in style to hans zimmer music and marvel at the nice skynet plasma rifle you happened to find.
Sometimes you die, you lose shit, boo hoo.
Thats what youre here for.
