Howdy.

Just a quick question. How do you apply materials to objects that aren't in the material menu of adv TT?

I've tried going to the various materials folders and selecting 'select material on toolgun' but that doesn't seem to work. At the same time copying an objects material doesn't seem to work either, as when applied, it just resets the changed material to its default.

you're gonna wanna click "copy to clipboard" on the selected material which is basically copying, then paste (CTRL + V) into that black bar you see in the submaterial and adv material side menus. That's it.

If it shows up purple/black checkers, there's a typo in it

With advanced material you can copy textures from other props and the map too

Note that adv material is a finicky tool. Often a prop will continually reset to the first material it was set to with the tool, even if you change it later.

It's a great tool for vending machine makeovers.

This tool is a blessing when used right tho.

U can even make the background of certain materials (I.e. graffiti) invisible if u fuck with the colour settings as well

Yeah, for my decals I use the color tool with these settings:
R: 218
G: 218
B: 218
Grey?: 251

Render Mode: Transparent - Colour
Render FX: None

Though apparently this doesn't work for others sometimes, but hey, it's something.

forewarning, adv materials and submaterials do not save on static props after a restart/crash.

otherwise, adv material is a prayer answered for people who make sekrit rebel rooms

Submaterial is great for some props. IE making one of those combine barricade props appear off.
