Information Terminator Roleplay - Announcement

Once more, TnB will be returning to the future war. A different future, perhaps, but the same war nonetheless.

I'd like to take a moment to make a quick statement on the previous announcement thread that spoke on the topic of HLNA's future, and I can assure that we still intend to move forward with that. That said, we felt that immediately touching back upon that setting was not the right play, but rather to innovate on something we feel TnB has successfully tackled before and to refine it using the perspective that a prior iteration offers.

While much of TRP 3's details are still closed doors, here is a little of what I can reveal:
  • The server will be utilizing the Eternity script created by TankNut and further developed by Drewerth.
  • Great portions of the TRP branch of Eternity's development are entirely focused upon improving the gameplay elements of TRP, including it's S2K experience and weapons.
  • The server's setting takes place in the remains of the eastern seaboard of the former United States, taking place around New York and New England in the year 2024.
  • Plasma is being reworked to complement the use of ballistic weaponry rather than supplant it entirely.
  • SkyNET will be adjusted to be able to fully commit to combat rather than committing to playing to lose; their armor being largely reduced to allow a more equal playing field that doesn't require one side to S2M unless under specific circumstances.
  • The Resistance will be independent from the previous rigid military structure Tech-Com provided last iteration. This means you'll all be able to make whatever groups you want, when you want, and run them how you want, without the annoying restriction of the server revolving around a single military entity.
Things like how Tech-Com & the main player group will be handled, how reprogrammed drones will be handled, what SkyNET drones will be seen at the start of the server, the script, and the lore of the setting are all things that will be revealed further down the road, as snapshots of TRP 3's development and server documents will follow this announcement in due time. Expect some threads in the next couple of weeks explaining the setting more thoroughly and how your characters will be able to interact with it in comparison to the last Terminator server.

Release date: TBA.

We're not going to give a straight release date right this second because we want to make sure every bit of the server will be functional at launch. While this might make some of you think the server's still pretty far off, don't worry: we'll be shooting some robots in the summer, that much is certain.

Ask questions below to your heart's content.

yes, probably later this year or early next year

there'll be a thread posted by @thecatwhomines explaining more thoroughly how tech-com will be working this iteration, but i'll just say no you shouldn't expect to see ranks.

this iteration's tech-com is still going to play a central role in the server, it's just not going to be playing the role of the entire military. i'd say they're going to serve more as ic guides and people that run missions with the much less organized general resistance, not so much as people that go out of their way to recruit survivors into their ranks. the way i envision it is that they're quite new to the east coast and people really only know of them as myth at the moment

there'll be a much more detailed response about how tech-com actually works soon tho like i said

It seems exciting. Also sounds like a much better way of going about things IMO

Are we finally going to bring back NPCs for SkyNet, specifically with the lower tier drones early on (600s, 700s, T-1s, etc) because lets be honest, 600s are dumb as fuck and don't need a player behind them. Doesn't need to be anything crazy like having NPC spawns permanently set, but yo use them.
This is something me and Drewerth actually talked about. Don't know if this is going to be a thing by launch, but it's definitely possible in the future. I don't mind it seeing as we already simulated the presence of a lot of SkyNET drones using ragdolls on the previous TRP.
Plasma instead of having that dumb ammo count, why don't we have a overheat mechanic? Shoot too fast/too much/too high of a wattage, well now you're gonna have to wait for your weapon to cooldown. I'm just spitballing here, but I think that would be a better option. If you want to get crazy, have a timer for lockout if you overheat your weapon too often or something.
There'll be more on the new plasma system soon, but this is (sort of) a part of it. There's a few more elements to the plasma script overhaul that complement the overheat mechanic that'll be brought to light later, hopefully with a video or some kind of media to show just exactly how it works.
Please for the love of god have an actual storyline roughly outlined. If nothing else, bring back the event series/campaigns once things start getting sorted ICly between people/groups. Maybe even bring back the whole GM role with the sole fact of driving the narrative and making events with the admins being there to regulate the server and assist instead.
We don't plan to slack on story narratives for the server, since we all know that they were always a big part of keeping TRP (and any TnB several in general, really) fresh and functional. Expect some threads in the coming week detailing more about the setting; I think those threads will be enough to explain that there's some brand new story elements coming to this iteration.
More flavor items. Please. On that same note, can we actually put some effort into a proper economy/barter system?
So what we're doing here is actually reusing the black market species from HLNA and turning it into a general trader menu of sorts, more akin to SRP traders than a license you can buy like we had previously on TRP. That means no more of everyone being able to access and buy every ballistic weapon or clothing kit on the server with a currency nobody really took seriously. It's our intention to make currency and an economy with traders in general a more serious part of the server rather than it just being a joke.
Redo the donation model? Not to get too crazy but maybe we should not be asking for a ton of cash for simple things? Focus on head addons, not asking for individual weapons. IDK, maybe we could push the patreon model which (in theory) could be more sustainable.
There'll be more on donations to come soon once talks on those are over and we have everything figured out there.
New blood for the admin team/event makers/etc. 'Nough said.
:)
Rebalance all the damages based on calibers please for the love of god. So tired of the same weapon system (for example, M14) does 20 damage while a Mk14 EBR does 60.
This is a Imp Imp thing to respond to if he wants, but I'd expect a lot of weapon rebalancing to be done live on the server since it's going to be pretty hard for us to get a rough feel of how everything will do on Eternity's weapon base.

add the complex arma 3 injury system and 92 keybinds.

on the real though, GUN SOUNDS ARE IMPORTANT. All I want is for our guns to sounds meaty, not royalty free gun sounds that we've been using for years. Cinematics are important, so is immersion. I want my ear drums blown out when I'm next to a machinegun.
