These aren’t very fleshed out, and may not be very doable, but they give some ideas for anyone itching to get an RR running, or just some food for thought. They’ve been incubating in my ultra power brain for some time, and I’ve been meaning to let them loose. I have no experience running RR’s so take my opinions with a grain of sodium and chloride.

RR [ärē-ärē]
Definition: Random Roleplay.

Long Winter

It's cold… So cold…

Some climate catastrophe. No one knows how. All that matters is that you stay warm, and keep up with the pack. The normalcy and comforts of life have been wasted away, the only driving motive in the world being survival. It is by any means that your life is kept away from the icy hands of death, be it in unity or betrayal. Degradation of basic morals is a polarizing necessity. A dog in poor health will now sustain the camp for a few more days. Ravished children put to work in maintaining the scamp bonfire. The man begged to be buried, but his remains must rest in tight stomachs. Though it is with these heavy hearted decisions that humanity is permitted to live on. Whispers in the freezing wind tell of horrible murders taking place by despicable creatures. Best to sleep with one eye open.

A very grim RR indeed. Much of the story would revolve around the choices players make in their effort to survive. Hard pk’s would be handed out like candy, the server nearly a contest in who could survive through the three day ordeal. Extensive roleplay would be required to steal, butcher, and plead. Elements of horror would come into play on the second day with sightings of Skin-Walker like beasts, who would of course prey on unsuspecting players. I'm very much inspired by stories/games revolving around people surviving wintery hellscapes, I.E Frostpunk, The Long Dark, and SnowPiercer. Something very fascinating about the unified grind to live in a cold environment.

I LIVE, I DIE, I LIVE AGAIN!

Gas town fumes in the distance as the measly caravan pulls over for a refuel. In their ignorance, they happen to stop near an outpost of the Warboys, sneakily tucked away in a mountain crevice. Obnoxious combustion engines can be heard in the distance as the last of the fuel trickles into their respective tanks, the caravan peeling off. The quiet hum of the road is soon disturbed by intense inter-vehicular combat! Pew pew! BANG KABOOM! It seems the Warboys get the better of the caravan, the party being forced to speedily retreat. Making it to a war torn scrap-city, they drink away the defeat at a bar.

The passive RP would simply be banger. Car repair, bars, slavery, the whole shebang. Conflict would be very interesting with plenty of factions to duke it out with. Actual vehicle combat would probably be sparse and difficult, but there would be much melee to enjoy. I think many would love to be an overzealous Warboy, mutant mechanic, or a simple wastelander trying to get by. Given the richness of the roleplay I’d give the server run time a little under a week. Many will be plagued by memories of getting run over, or ritually killed in some brutal manner. But it's all in good fun.

Fifty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

Where are we?

Sonar pings resound through the cramped control room, a ghostly white crew looking in horror at the gritty black screen. The radar has picked up something large, monstrous. It's slowly making its way towards the ship. It blips out of view for a moment, the men left confused. Moments later, a large mass impacts the submarine, sensors showing the creature wrapping itself about the entirety of the craft. Alarms blare. A crewmate vomits black liquid, aquatic critters leaping from the bile and assailing everything in view. It's chaos.

The Thing. In a Submarine. It's a tried and true classic setting, with a salty twist. Definitely inspired by Barotrauma and Iron Lung, the deep terrifying unknown being capitalized at the expense of the player, further accentuated by a claustrophobic map. The plot would most likely involve a navy/research crew getting themselves lost in some deep unknown crevice hiding eldritch horrors. Give it about three days.

More… Out there ideas

Primal Power
A jungle flourishing with primitive life. Apes and Monkeys all under one canopy. As with all of the order Primate, the air of conflict is thick. Howler Monkeys never bothering to quiet down, Gorillas eating all the fruit, Snub Noses having all the females, and Great Apes going psycho. There is simply no peace!

My Brother in Christ
Join TNB in Israel as players bear witness to the last moments of Jesus Christ. They do everything in their power to prevent his passing, but it's all for naught as the world is consumed in ethereal red light and fire, a more demonic ending than expected. It is soon found out that the Jews had accidentally unleashed a hellish force onto the world. Zombies, Demons. Cinch up your shepherd robe tight, and take up your sling and staff to fight for a dead god, my brother in Christ! Sort of a spin on Zombie RP in a very early era, with religious undertones.

Classical period zombie RP?????
There's this really old book I got at some point that was literally just Pride and Prejudice but with zombies, I think it was actually CALLED "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." It was really good and honestly might be good base material for an RR that wants to do zombies in an older setting.

the three possible tnb rp settings:

survivalist setting
horror setting
survivalist/horror setting

The Long Winter and Fifty Thousand Leagues are definitely my favorites. After experiencing stuff like FalloutNV's Dust/FO4's Frost, having a post-apocalypse where players must fight against the all-encompassing cold and do whatever it takes for survival sounds wonderfully tense. Recent maps such as GM_AbyssalPlain also make the Iron Lung style of 50,000 Leagues very feasible with all of the thalassophobic content to keep players entertained and frightened.

If these ever move beyond the idea stage, I'll gladly lend a hand with any builds or set-dressing needs.

im in dire need of an rr based in a snowy environment rn His Excellency God-King Slithers Deeworth XLVIII His Excellency God-King Slithers Deeworth XLVIII ????
dont do it on gm_boreas or during the launch of another rp server

underwater environments/ocean related horror is definitely something underutilized and would be great if anyone can pull that off as an RR, only issue i see is trying to get a map like abyssal plain to accommodate all the players but clustrophobia works well in generating cabin fever.

My only concern with Abyssal isn't the size (as there are about two habitable stations and a submarine, as well as a lot of moonpool space that can be converted into additional legroom), but rather how the main base has an Oxygen supply that actually depletes over time. Could be good for RP, but when you don't want it to happen, constantly losing health unless someone hits a "replenish oxygen" button is a bit annoying.
